This page explains how new and old users can obtain WHAT IF.

Introduction for new users

Introduction for old users

WHAT IF license holders can now get WHAT IF 8.0. If you are a valid WHAT IF license holder, and you have a valid WHAT IF password, you can proceed and request the WHAT IF 8.0 update.
Use the Download button in the table near the bottom of this page.

If you have forgotten your password, look at the bill we sent you and use that user-number to request a new password. Please use another user-name as 'last time' as the internal username/password file is read top-to-bottom... If you also lost the bill, feel free to contact us by FAX or Email. In that case we need to know your name, address, affiliation, and the name of the person who originally ordered WHAT IF, and preferably also the year in which WHAT IF was ordered.

1) Get the license form to request the software
2) Register as a WHAT IF user (i.e. ask for password).
3) Download WHAT IF
Only if you are a valid WHAT IF license holder, and have a valid user-number does it make sense to register as a WHAT IF user. Each day a few people fill out the WHAT IF update form without a valid user-number. This is a lot of work for them, and doesn't get them anywhere. The software that reads the form compares the user-number with our database and automatically deletes all incomming forms with wrong or missing user-numbers.

Frequent access to WHAT IF updates

It is possible to get svn access to WHAT IF. Svn is a version control system. Take a look at the documentation and discuss that with a local systems-guru if you don't understand. This concept of svn distribution is new. It has been tested twice, and worked twice, so far, but we can be sure to run into some trouble some day. This svn idea only works for Linux/UNIX machines. The Windows version still needs to be downloaded the oldfashioned way.
